Using Tags

Tags are similar to Categories within WordPress. Use the Add New Tag area on the right side of the Post you’re creating. When you begin typing there should appear choices of tags that already exist. It’s best to use tags that already exist if they’re close enough to what you’re after.

On the front-end the tags appear with a hash symbol at the bottom of the post. Clicking on the tag will bring the user to the page that lists all posts with that same tag. Both of the following tags are also Categories, with Public Service and Outreach being represented by Around PSO right now. Maybe we should change that?

Here’s an example of a Tag home page: https://outreach.uga.edu/tag/j-w-fanning-institute-for-leadership-development/
Versus a Category home page: https://outreach.uga.edu/category/fanning-institute/

In general there shouldn’t be too many tags on a post, unless I’m missing the reasoning behind it. It might help both on site and Google search results for certain terms, but the help might be minor.
